SIGNIFICANT DECISIONS

Delagrave v. Employment Sec., 127 Wn. App. 596, 111 P.3d 879 (2005).  Co-counsel with Darrell K. Smart in a landmark case that required Employment Security to reduce unemployment overpayments for injured workers.  In re Larry Chafin, Dec'd - Obtained pension benefits after a four-year legal battle on behalf of a widow for the suicide death of her husband after the Department of Labor and Industries denied the claim and delayed benefits.

 

In re Marta Alfaro - Obtained permanent total disability pension benefits and a large lump sum partial disability award for a woman who suffered multiple injuries to her shoulders, hands, and knees while working for a local food processing plant.

 

In re Ray Miller - Obtained permanent total disability pension benefits for a man who suffered a knee sprain and severe degenerative arthritis after falling off a work truck.

 

Kathy Schut v. Superior Asphalt, et al - Ms. Schut suffered permanent injuries to her knee and foot preventing her from continuing in her occupation as a heavy equipment operator.  Obtained a large settlement to compensate her for lost future income, pain and suffering, and permanent disability against a negligent driver, road paving company, flagging company, and her insurance company.
